Traveling for me is (almost) always fun, and vacations are a rare but treasured experience. However, it takes a great deal of work to save, prepare, and plan for a fantastic vacation. Especially in the early days of our marriage, we’ve relished the joy of staycation! Today, I’m talking fashion tips for a memorable and easy weekend at home!

Make it cute. Take a little extra time to select a special occasion outfit and accessories. Try out a playful pattern with detail to give yourself a true vacation feeling. Even consider treating yourself to a blowout, manicure, and pedicure at your local salon! Soak in all the joys and preparations of vacation without the angst of travel.

Make it light. The humidity has come to Charleston, so around here – staycation style means lightweight clothing and relaxed silhouettes. For especially sunny areas, choose white or light colored clothing to block out sun and free flowing garments for a casual yet styled look.

Make it memorable. If you’re anything like me, you have a standard “uniform” you rely on throughout the week (life is easier that way, am I right?!) Just because you’re planning dinners at home and events in your town doesn’t mean you have to select your typical outfit. Try on something you’ve never worn before, or take the savings from vacation and treat yourself to a new look! Whether it’s a bold new color or a coordinating outfit, make the weekend extra special with something you love.
