With the sun making a grand appearance in the Carolinas this weekend, I was reminded of the relief I get from one simple addition to my wardrobe: a hat!
Lightweight clothing and sunscreen are a clear must on days like today (90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!) But nothing can replace that extra shade and relief from the perfect hat. The best hats, in my humble opinion, need to be one (or all) of the following:
- packable
- adjustable
- lightweight
- wide brim (for just a little extra sun protection!)

Stay cool my friends,

for a day on the boat…..
for time in the garden…
for an afternoon of tea….

All of these summer hats look look pretty. I love the styles and colours. Wearing good hats like these as sheilding from the sun is especially important at this time of year even using sunblock. Most of us probably don’t have even the base of a suntan yet and our skin is still very sensitive.
This is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to mention how I found ShopNational:
My mother used to get a catalogue of lingerie and fashion from National Wholesale Co., Inc.. After she passed away two decades ago I called National to inform them and spoke to the president of the company, your mom, Lynda Smith Swann. I asked her if National could remove her name from the mailing list and replace it with mine, as I wished to continue receiving the catalogue but under my own name. She was very sweet and seemed to not be bothered at all by my wanting to by women’s fashions to wear myself. I suspect there are many men who do prefer wearing women’s underwear judging from the percentage of reviews written my men. I have since made a number of purchases from National and am very pleased with them. I left a review long ago on a pair of Full Coverage Lace Trim Nylon Panties at ShopNational which I should have re-read before posting about them on my own lingerie review blog (I left the link to that blog 27 May 2013 review as my website link). I just updated it with my original review from the ShopNational website.
I love the catalogue – I’m looking at the issue with catalogue code 258.
Getting back to these hats – I love how you linked them right to the ShopNational site. I also just noticed ShopNational is on Twitter at @ShopNational. I have over 700 followers there (on Twitter). I’m happy to have found you and your blog.
