Sunday morning, after a three day spat with strep throat, my body was stiff from staying in bed. I opted for a warm shower to get my muscles loosened up and then proceeded to enjoy a casual stroll around the block with my husband and daughter. Within a couple of hours, I was thankful for some needed pain relief!

I try to always follow the cardinal workout recommendations – warming up for 2-5 minutes before exercising, stretching after a workout when the muscles are most prepared, and hydrating consistently throughout the day. But, if you’re like me and still struggle with some lingering joint paint, consider these additional all-natural methods for muscle tension relief!

Soak in an epsom salt bath. Draw out muscle tension with an epsom salt bath. Use warm to hot water, and soak for 15 minutes. (Add your favorite essential oil to further elevate the effectiveness of your bath).

Add Vitamin D to your daily regimen. We get lots of Vitamin D from the sun, but often we’re still lacking the necessary vitamin nutritionally. Add it in as a supplement in the morning to improve your body’s mobility.

Bring on the peppermint. Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to coconut oil or your current body lotion regimen and apply directly to sore areas for more immediate relief.

How do you relieve muscle tension? I am always looking for tips to add to my routine, so share yours with me in the comment section below.

Keep on relaxin,

Parker
