If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you know that I am not a proponent of New Year’s resolutions or big bold goals. Did you know that more than 80% of individuals pass up on their initial goals in the first 30 days of the year? To avoid this pattern of defeat, I concentrate on something a little different for the new season ahead. Today, I am knee deep in preparation for this year’s “one word.”

One Word, by Dan Britton and Jimmy Page, offers a simple practice to identify a word for the New Year that offers foundation, energy, and reflection. Also available are online resources and worksheets to identify the word that best suits you!

In 2015, my one word was believe. Through thick and thin, this word offered me direction and peace when things went a bit topsy turvy. 2016’s one word was brave. Without question, this word offered me a necessary steadfastness during a year that included unexpected medical issues and job changes.

How do you approach the New Year? Give One Word a try and let me know what you think! I’ll be sharing my one word in a week, so stay tuned!

Happy New Year,

Parker
