Suns out, bags out! Tis the season for weekend getaways and opportunities to explore the countryside (or city side or ocean side or any side of fun!) Whether your packing up for an hour long drive to the mountains or a plane flight to Santa Fe (personal favorite), I’ve got some tricks of the traveling trade to share, my friend.
Sure, what goes inside is important. But key to easy travel is starting from the bottom up – literally. Today, four tips to finding just the right luggage.
- Source some light. Bags get heavy quickly. Make sure you test out the weight of a suitcase (or, if shopping online, scroll to find dimensions and weight).
- Compartmentalize the stuff. Organization is everything! Especially for weekend getaways, find a bag with ample storage compartments and stow-away spots.
- Stay on the bright side. Have you ever watched the conveyer belt at an airport – like really watched it? I swannie that no fewer than 99% of the bags are black. For ease of spotting and decreased risk of theft, find a bright or patterned bag that’s all yours.
- Strive for durability. For the frequent traveler, make sure your bag will hold up to the tosses and throws of trains, planes and automobiles. Look for metal zippers, canvas sides, and heavy plastic or metal handles.
