As the air starts to crisp and the leaves begin to fall, I sense the seasons changing and crave my wardrobe to change right along with it. I was fortunate to grow up in a “four season state,” experiencing a significant change in weather with every interval change.
My favorite part about fall? TEXTURE! I love bringing new feeling into my closet with cozy layers, plush sweaters, and draping tunics. Below are my five favorite National fabrics – each one offering a different look and feel for my favorite time of year.
Bouclé: Offering warmth that is cozy and delicate, boucle knit sweaters are my go to for a Friday night football game. When I wrap up in it, I smell the bonfire starting and am ready for a s’more. Nothing makes me feel the approach of fall more than a cushy sweater!
Fleece: its my end of the Summer/start of Fall go to. As the air cools and fires are being lit in our living room, I reach for anything…and I mean ANYTHING…made of fleece. It is the cover-up-cozy for your closet.
Pointelle knit: layerable, light, and stylish. This fabric works alongside everything I own (jeans, leggings, dress pants, etc.). It’s a quick addition to a summer wardrobe that can take you from a warm afternoon to a breezy evening walk on the beach.
Rayon challis: can’t. get. enough. Rayon challis is a loose fitting option that maintains a stylish look. It is lightweight, easy care, and holds color like a champ – meaning your clothes will keep a new and fresh look, no matter how many gatherings you attend!
Cotton: let’s be honest. This fabric is a seasonless favorite that is breathable, easy care, and beautiful in every form.
