I say, perhaps too often, that some element of Christmas is truly my all time favorite tradition.

But today, seriously, I’m sharing the real one. THE one. Christmas stockings.

Friends, I love all things Christmas stockings. I grew up with two “styles” of stockings: velvet and satin with all the lace frills (handmade by my incredibly talented mother) and needle point scenes of all-things-Christmas (personalized, of course, by my grandmother). Always stuffed with memorable and sentimental treats, these stockings were hung by the chimney with care…of course. Mom and Dad still fill them with all my favorites….gift cards to Chick-Fil-A (a must anytime of year), lip gloss, Burt’s Bees chapstick, and so much more. My grandparents took a more classic approach to stuffing stockings. Every year, we received one orange, a piece of chocolate (Snickers for me and Kit-Kat for my sister), a comic book (we looked the most forward to these), and a bottle of perfume (ok, let’s be honest. That didn’t happen until the teenage years).

Now as adults, my sister and I have the joy of choosing our own “stocking theme” and starting traditions of our own. Ironically enough, separated by 300 miles, we bought the same stockings: faux fur! What items fill your stockings each year? Share your traditions with me in the comment section below! And peruse the images below for “stocking-spiration!”

Merry Christmas,
Parker
