We’re coming up on another birthday week in the Wilson home! On Friday, my husband will celebrate another great year gone by and anticipate all that’s to come for the year ahead. As we prepare for his celebration (which, I must say, is very laid back…per his request!), I’m reminded of a few birthday traditions I hold near and dear to my heart.

Birthday Breakfast

I love pancakes! A staple from my childhood, I love nothing more than cooking up a big stack to start a birthday off right. My absolute favorite – chocolate chip pancakes. I have to say, even at a young age, I was known to have sweets for breakfast on my birthday (as seen here…on my 1st birthday).

Girls on the Go

Two weeks before my birthday, I send out a “let’s have brunch” email to a few of my closest girlfriends. Typically, I avoid the fact that it’s my birthday. I’ve tried to use the time as an opportunity to say “thank you for your friendship!” However, someone manages to sneak in some birthday love…and I don’t fight it!

Dinner on the Town

Since Georgie and I shared birthdays within a day of one another, I could always look forward to a special dinner at Yarborough’s with the entire family. Now, I anticipate a quiet dinner with my husband (and possibly a few friends for those “bigger” celebrations). For my 30th birthday, he surprised me with dinner on the water!
