I’m a little partial when it comes to highlighting this historic Carolina city – because it has recently become home sweet home to the Wilsons. In the Spring of 2013, we moved to the quaint southern city from Vancouver, BC. Though we relished in our Canadian adventures, we were thrilled to make our way back to the South – and we are over the moon in love with our new home.

Rated the number one destination wedding location in the U.S., the number one town to visit, and the consistently in the top 10 for best restaurants, Charleston has no shortage of things to do, places to see, and delights to eat. So what turned this traditionally tourist destination into home for the Wilsons? Here are a few of our favorite things:

The Arthur Ravenel Bridge: might sound crazy, considering it’s a standard bridge that carries cars to and from respective locations, but there is something magical about this Ravenel bridge. Its massive and awe inspiring structure offers pedestrian access to experience the height above water and claim some of the best views of the Holy City. We make it a tradition to walk the bridge, either alone or with friends, at least once a week.

Rooftop evening with sweet tea + shrimp and grits: Born and bred in the South, this is a southern delicacy, and a true Charleston staple…and it is best served on a rooftop overlooking the city!

A Stroll on Sullivan’s: Charleston is known for tremendous restaurants, beautiful sunsets, and perfect beaches. Sullivan’s Island is just a 20-minute drive from downtown and remains a quaint and perfect setting for an evening outside of the City.
