This town has my heart. Within its captivating mountain scape sits Swann’s Nest West, our mountain home that has seen broken hearts restored, cancer healed, and marriages made. Our family has come to know this place as a refuge, and we invite it to become yours.
Located near the turf of Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock is a quaint mountain town nestled in Watagua County, just an hour and a half northwest of Charlotte. When the Swanns gather in Blowing Rock, we have a few activities that are an absolute must for that perfect mountain weekend. Here’s our preferred agenda!
Morning snack: take a windy drive to the Ham Shoppe in search for the best ham biscuit you’ll find south of the Mason Dixon line.
Power walk on the ridge: a Rough Ridge hike is just what the doctor ordered. It’s a non-strenuous hike appropriate for the entire family. Pack a few cereal bars, and you’ll be ready for a few sunlit hours on the mountain.
Sunset at the Crestwood: our favorite neighborhood haunt is the Inn at Crestwood. Its stunning views come complimentary with a nighttime cocktail on the porch. It’s the perfect beginning to a mountain evening.
Music on the lawn: the Best Cellar is the perfect Saturday evening in Blowing Rock. Grab a lawn chair and a blanket, and you are set up for live music on the lawn followed by a delicious meal indoors.
The one and only Sunday brunch spot is Annie’s. Opened only during the Summer, it is the perfect spot for a stack of pancakes or French toast, whatever your morning sweet tooth is craving.
Whether your adventurous side craves a mountain hike or a peaceful trip to Westglow Spa, Blowing Rock has plenty of options. Call us up if you’re in the neighborhood!
